Notebook
The first laser project that I worked on was the notebook. In which I knew that I wanted to resemble my love for Detroit Sports, so I included the four professional team logos: The Red wings, Lions, Tigers, and Pistons. The one part that I had the laser cut out was the Red wings "D". In terms of the back cover, I went with one of my favorite rappers 21 Savage. Once the designs were created, Image trace was used so the laser could actually read and print the design. Once the front and back covers were printed, we went over to a hole-press device, which punched numerous holes in the covers and papers for it to officially become a notebook.
Water Bottle
The water bottle design features once again a rapper in 21 Savage, and various high-end brands. I went with this design style to showcase my likeness for these brands and music style. Once everything was image traced/expanded I had to rotate the design 270 degrees so it would print correctly on the water bottle. Putting in the rotational jig required taking out the original "tray" and plugging in the cord into the laser. Then came setting the water bottle up in the jig which was fairly easy as it just involved moving one piece to prevent the bottle from falling essentially.
Thingiverse cut-out
I had to search on Thingiverse for a laser cut-out design that I would ultimately have to put together. To which I ultimately decided upon doing a simple airplane as trying to do something a little more complex proved to be a little too much for me to handle. Once I downloaded the file, I immediately transferred all of the pieces to another document, resized them, and moved them around for ample spacing.
Summary
Throughout this rotation, I learned more about operating the laser. I accomplished this by making designs in Adobe Illustrator. Using the Image Trace tool, and such. Then I learned more about properly setting up the documents for printing purposes (Choosing the different materials, and adjusting the thickness) the most notable setting, perhaps being applying the rotational jig, rotating setting.
